Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners
In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and granulated sugar
Mix until creamy and well combined
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture
Beat until smooth
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk
Start and end with the dry ingredients
Mix until just combined
Divide the cupcake batter into two portions
Leave one portion as is and add red food coloring to the other portion to create a red batter for the heart shapes
Place heart-shaped silicone molds or cookie cutters on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Fill the molds or cutters with the red batter and bake them for 8-10 minutes until they're set
Remove them from the molds or cutters and let them cool completely
Fill each cupcake liner in the pan with a spoonful of the plain cupcake batter
Place a baked red heart shape on top of each cupcake batter-filled liner
Bake the cupcakes in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely
Once the cupcakes are cool, frost them with your favorite frosting
You can use a piping bag to create a decorative swirl on top
Optional: Add sprinkles or edible glitter for a touch of sparkle and fun
Your Heart on a Cupcake is ready to enjoy!
